Cali Accommodations
This
really depends on your taste and budget. Accommodations can run several
hundred dollars down to several tens of dollars daily during the high
season. The best choice is one that meets your needs and offers value.
Several accommodations are specific in the market they serve well -
adults-only, naturalists, the yachtsmen, families or small groups,
honeymooners, beach/watersport aficionados, nightlife/casino
enthusiasts. Remember - one can stay anywhere and easily travel to
another property or area to meet your vacation goals. Not one property
has everything mentioned - most have two or three. Since most
activities involve beaches - keep in mind that some of the best beaches
are not in front of hotels and are in fact remote public beaches. There
are exceptions. Also, some beaches are noted to be calm while others
offer moderate to high surf. Check the Virtual Tour for more specifics.
Remember - all beaches are considered public - even in front of hotels.
Sunday is family/leisure day for native Islanders - a good opportunity
to meet people.
Also consider an apartment, condominium, house, or villa rental. Some
are beachfront. Others are positioned on hillsides offering spectacular
views of the sea or neighboring islands. These accommodations can be
especially cost effective off-season and for larger groups or families.
Meals may be prepared by provided staff. Fresh foods are readily
available in larger supermarkets at reasonable costs.

A nice hostel a short 2 minute walk from the new Centenario Mall
(quiet/safe area) and a 10-15 minute walk from Avenida Sexta and the
Granada area. There are 7 beds in dorms for 15000 pesos per night and a
room with a double bed for 30000. Discounted weekly and monthly rates
are available. There's a cafe in front of the hostel and a shared
kitchen.
The hostel is owned and run by a mother and a daughter who live there. They make everyone who arrives feel at home and very welcome (they don't speak English, but ask for Matt if you need someone who does). Claudia, the daughter also gives free salsa lessons. No hot water (not a big deal in Cali) or laundry service.
